About Thistle Hill Pottery Burial Urns

I hope to offer urns that will fit the emotional needs of families in their time of loss. A hand made burial cremation urn is a comforting choice in this mechanized world. I've made urns for my own family and we put them in the ground with our own hands. This was a healing act and I hope that my urns can fulfill the same need for others. At first I wasn't sure that I wanted to offer these to the public, but friends who have asked for them have been very appreciative so I changed my mind.

The urns are hand made and hand decorated by me in my pottery studio near Montpelier, Vermont. They are made of stoneware clay and fired to 2320 degrees.

There are 3 pages of urns on this website - They have a specially designed secure lid that is made to be closed with wax or glue, if desired.

For People

Regular urns are around 9- 10" tall by 7" wide and hold 3 quarts.

Small urns are around 7" tall by 5" wide and hold 1.5 quarts.

For Pets

These urns are around 7" tall by 5" wide and hold 1.5 quarts. If the urn is for a dog weighing over 100 pounds, a regular urn is probably a good choice.
